Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole Tribute Video
I just wanted to pass along this wonderful video of Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole, a Hawaiian musician that passed away a little over ten years ago. He suffered from obesity, and the complications that came with his condition were too much for his body to withstand. When he died, they held a giant celebration in the Pacific Ocean and spread his ashes over the water.
This video is his version of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", played on his ukulele. Even if you have already heard his version of the song, the video is a stirring tribute that shows a giant man whose soul was a hundred times larger than the body it was contained in. At the end of the video, they show the final celebration of his life off of the shores of Hawaii, with people cheering as his remains are scattered into the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean.
